On 6 May 2025, the Clinical Investigation Centre (CIC), UMMC had the honour of hosting a benchmark visit from the Indonesian Association for the Study of Medicinals (IASMED), a national organization comprising clinical trial professionals from various backgrounds in Indonesia.
The IASMED delegation included:

- apt. Valentina Ermita Herdani
The visit focused on understanding Malaysia’s clinical trial governance system and observing site-level infrastructure and operations aligned with ICH-GCP standards. Topics discussed included:
- CRO and SMO collaboration in clinical trial management
- MREC timelines and ethical approval processes
- Costing templates and study start-up challenges
- Importation procedures for investigational products
- Study coordinator roles, training, and career pathways
- Early-phase studies, IIT funding, and internal audit practices
- Regulatory SOPs and web-based visibility for clinical research
It was a highly engaging and insightful session, with both sides exchanging best practices and experiences. We look forward to ongoing collaboration with IASMED in advancing regional clinical research excellence.
