We are thrilled to announce that Clinical Investigation Centre (CIC), Universiti Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC) has officially joined the International Clinical Trial Center Network (ICN) as a Regular Member as of April 2024! Our membership in ICN underscores UMMC’s commitment to advancing excellence in healthcare services, education, and clinical research.
As part of this milestone, UMMC delegates were honored to attend the ICN Annual General Meeting on 31st October 2024 at Kyoto University in Japan. This meeting brought together clinical research leaders from across the globe, focusing on advancements in clinical trials, collaborative strategies, and innovative research developments.
AGM Highlights:
The AGM featured insightful discussions on cutting-edge topics, including:
1. Innovative Treatments and Drug Development: Presentations covered pioneering research and breakthroughs in therapeutic development, showcasing the latest advancements in clinical trials.
2. Patient Recruitment and Engagement: Best practices were shared on recruiting diverse patient populations, with a focus on improving accessibility and engagement in clinical research.
3. Digital Platforms for Clinical Operations: The benefits of digital tools in budgeting, payments, and clinical trial coordination were explored, highlighting their role in enhancing trial efficiency.
4. Global Research Collaborations and Ethical Practices: Delegates discussed the importance of ethical frameworks, data privacy, and international cooperation in advancing patient-centered research worldwide.
In addition to the productive sessions, our delegates had the pleasure of building new connections and friendships with colleagues from around the world. The event concluded with a dinner, fostering meaningful exchanges and laying the groundwork for future collaborations. 
Joining the ICN and participating in the AGM marks an exciting new chapter for UMMC as we work alongside global leaders to advance clinical research and improve patient outcomes. We look forward to bringing these insights back to our institution and contributing to the global research community.
